attorney for your appeal.
What is an Appeal?
You may have been unsuccessful in a case in front of an administrative
agency or a court. A party who disagrees with the result may try
to change it or try to obtain a new trial by having the case reviewed by
a higher court. In cases that raise issues with merit, you may be
able to take an “appeal” or ask that another court or body hear your case.
Your opponent may also file an appeal of a result that has been favorable
to you. These appeals may occur from an administrative agency decision,
at the state court level and at the federal level.

Timing matters!
If you are contemplating an appeal, it is important to consult
with an attorney as soon as possible to ensure that you do not miss a deadline.
An appeal generally begins with a Notice of Appeal. This is a relatively
simple document, but it must be filed within set time limits or you may
lose your right to appeal.

Why you might want a
different attorney for your appeal.
Lawyers who receive adverse decisions may assume they are best
qualified to handle the appeal because they know the facts and the case.
However, appellate attorneys understand that the appellate process is not
the same as the initial trial or agency proceeding. Appellate attorneys
can analyze any significant problems with a fresh, objective perspective.
Appellate attorneys can provide advice concerning the unique procedural
rules and issues involved in appellate matters.
If you are considering an appeal or defending an appeal your opponent
has filed, we urge you to consider Triquetra Law for
sound legal advice and experienced appellate representation.
